Is it possible for someone who is in thier 20s to get shingles?

Does it reaccure throughout your life in this case? I recently discovered that someone I really care about believes they have shingles. All the research I've done says it's more likely to occur in older people over 60. It's also been confusing as to how contagious it really is. Some websites state only if you haven't had the chicken pox and others state if you have a weakend immune system. Does it affect the area?
