Reoccuring shingles without pain?

My question is if you have a reaccurance of shingles can it be different then the first time and can you have shingles without pain? i had been getting a reoccurring elisions that were red, blistery, ithcy, tender, and oozing. i kept uming that it was poison ivy i got it every summer growing up. The rash reappeared again two days ago n i went to the doctor b.c i didnt think i should be getting poison ivy so often. The doctor told me it was shingles n i was surprised because i had shingles before when i was a teenager n it hurt so bad it was horrible, but this time there's no severe pain. Is my doctor wrong?
