If you're talking about the enlarged heart - Any breed can suffere from this. I had a Chihuahua who lived to be 16 with an enlarged heart and a Pom who lived to be 14 with the same condition. Certain diseases/conditions can cause heart enlargement, or they can be born with it. However, if you're speaking of heartworms, that can be prevented with testing and regular heart worm treatment (a once a month pill) that all dogs should be on since any dog can get heartworm. Good care, good food, regular vet exams and lots of live will help any dog to live a long life.
