Ex desperately contacted me and I found myself doing all the work of "trying". Wtf?!?

10 months back my ex dumped me for another girl. 9 months later and single, he did his magic on me and recaptured my emotions. and we started talking. He was very attentive for the first 3 days. After that, I was the one trying the rest of the time to work it out, to a point where I felt so desperate. I don't know why he wanted to contact me if he was just going to be the one to sit back and make me do all the reparations. Any ideas?
