Appeal of re-essment, what things should I include to appeal this?
An appraisal can be handy to fight an essment, but not a necessity. The reessed values come from recent sales recorded by the county, but these sales prices don't take in account many of the improvements from one house to the next and rely mostly on similar square foot estimations. I suggest you access the county records to examine recent sales in your neighborhood and point out the houses that may offer more than your does (# of baths, basement, garage or any other improvement that might make one property worth more than another). Take pics or get reliable information from the Realtors who listed the properties. Now, remember that you are talking to a low paid government employee when you go to appeal the re-essment. If all else fails, a little money under the table might get your property overlooked this and next time around ...
